Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

GamblersAdvice operates the website gamblersadvice.com (the "Website") and is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about anything in it at privacy@gamblersadvice.com.

This policy explains what personal data we process when you use the Website, why and on what legal basis, how long we keep it, who receives it and which rights you have. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR and the corresponding national laws apply to our processing.

2. What we collect and why

We only process the data we need for the purposes below.

• Visiting the Website. Our servers receive your IP address, browser and device details, the page you request, the referring page and the time. We use them to deliver the Website, keep it secure and fix errors (legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Server logs are kept for a short period and then deleted.
• Visitor statistics. We count page views ourselves, on our own servers, with no third-party analytics and no analytics cookies. We store the page, the time, the referring site, the browser and device type, the country derived from your IP address and a salted one-way hash of your IP address, never the IP address itself. Detailed records are deleted after 90 days; after that we keep only aggregated totals that identify no one (legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the Website is used, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Your account. When you register we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. If you turn on two-factor authentication we store the data it needs. We use this data to provide your account (legal basis: contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Reviews, comments and forum posts. What you post, your rating and your display name are published on the Website and visible to everyone. We moderate content, automatically and by hand, to keep out spam and abuse (legal basis: contract and our legitimate interest in a trustworthy community, Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
• Contact form and emails. When you write to us we store your name, email address and message so we can answer you (legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Emails sent to our addresses are forwarded to our team by Cloudflare's email routing service.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe we store your email address and when you gave consent, and send you the newsletter until you unsubscribe (legal basis: consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with the link in every newsletter or by contacting us.
• Game demos. When you start a free demo we record which game was played, when, in which language and, if you are logged in, by which account, to show play counts and popular games (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The demo itself is loaded from the game provider (see section 5).
• Language and settings. We look up your country from your IP address in a database stored on our own server to suggest a language. Your language and display settings are kept in your session or in a preference cookie (see our Cookie Policy).

3. What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data, we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not build advertising profiles. We make no decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Who receives your data

We share personal data only with service providers that process it for us under data processing agreements, or where the law requires it:

• Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany, which hosts our servers and database in the EU.
• Cloudflare, Inc., which runs our domain name service and forwards emails sent to our addresses.
• BunnyWay d.o.o. (bunny.net), Slovenia, which delivers the Website's fonts. Your browser connects to its servers, so it receives your IP address.
• Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.

Authorities, courts or other parties may receive data where we are legally obliged to share it or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. Casino websites, affiliate links and game demos

Our casino and bonus pages link to casino operators, some through affiliate links. When you follow such a link you leave the Website, and the operator and any affiliate network it uses may set cookies and process your data under their own privacy policies. We may receive a commission and aggregated reports about referrals that do not identify you.

Free game demos, and some game images, are delivered by game studios and their distribution partners. A demo loads only after you click "Play Demo"; from then on the provider receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.

6. International transfers

Our hosting is in the EU. Some service providers, such as Cloudflare and Google, may process data in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep data

• Account data: until you delete your account, which you can do at any time in your account settings.
• Published content: until you delete it or your account, or until we remove it during moderation.
• Contact messages: as long as we need them to deal with your request and any follow-up.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
• Detailed visitor statistics: 90 days. Server logs: a few weeks at most.
• Where the law requires longer retention, for example for tax records, we keep the data for that period.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data deleted;
• have its processing restricted;
• receive the data you gave us in a portable format;
• object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
• withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before.

To use these rights, email privacy@gamblersadvice.com. We answer within one month and may first ask you to confirm your identity.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.

If you live in California or another U.S. state with a privacy law, you have similar rights to know, correct and delete your data. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

9. Security

We protect data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and regular updates. No system is completely secure, but if a breach puts your data at risk we will inform you and the authorities where the law requires it.

10. Age limit

The Website is for adults only. It is not intended for anyone under 18, or under the legal gambling age where they live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if you believe a minor has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our processing changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and we tell registered users about significant changes.

12. Language

This policy is available in several languages. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version applies.
